News update

Hello friends, customers and fellow crafters,
It has been brought to my attention that there is a rumour floating about that I am closing down. I don't know where this rumour has started from, nor do I really care but what I really do care about is that this is potentially very damaging to my business. In fact, the last few weeks have been so dire that I was seriously having to reassess and consider the future of the shop. Now, I am wondering whether this information has had a bearing on the situation.
I can categorically deny that there is any truth in this rumour and that I am very much still trading and have fought too long and too hard to keep this shop alive, to let it go on the strength of a rumour.
This kind of thoughtless gossip mongering is so damaging and quite frankly it has really upset me. If I ever do decide to close, I can assure you that I will be the one to inform you. Please, if you ever hear anything relating to me - ask ME if it's true.
I look forward to continuing to serve you for all your crafty desires for many years to come.

The Lighthouse.

Another gorgeous Art stamp from Imagination Crafts.

I was hoping to demonstrate this card on air but didn't have the opportunity, as it was such a busy show for us. So it's nice to be able to show it here.
I fell back to my favourite inking and shading for this card. The lighthouse stamp was embossed in old gold powder. A combination of paint and inks created the scene and a bit of pencil shading to give the lighthouse some dimension.

Very English Beach Huts

There is something quintessentially English about the beach hut. They are evocative of long, lazy Summer days at the beach and they are romantic. (I believe they can be quite expensive too)!
I loved this stamp as soon as I saw it.

I have stamped the Beach Huts with black pigment ink and embossed with black powder. My powder had been contaminated with a little bit of glitter but that gave quite a nice subtle sparkle to it.
Then I painted each hut with a different Starlight paint. Also added a couple of real shells painted with Starlight, a few natural shells, a section of net bag and backed onto stripey Rice paper and job done.

Whimsical Butterflies - workshops

Next week's workshops featuring "Whimsical Butterflies". These beautiful cards have been designed by Carol and it would be such a shame if they weren't seen by anyone. So why not come down and maybe bring a friend and do the workshop with us, we would love to see you.
Wed. 8th June 10:30 - 1:00
Thurs. 9th 1:30 -4:00
Sat. 11th 10:30 - 1:00

Candle centrepiece

The gorgeous rice papers from Imagination Crafts, can be applied to anything and here I have used a plain candle and a candle plate which was a very gaudy gold colour before I painted it with their chalky finish mdf paints.

If you saw the one on TV, I had filled the plate with small white stones and real shells. Very pretty for a beach-side wedding perhaps.

Imagination Crafts TV samples

Here is my 3 panel wall decoration using the lovely seaside stencils with Sparkle Medium, which we unfortunately sold out of before I got to show this and some of the beautiful Starlight paints.

I added extra fronds of seaweed to the Seahorse by stencilling onto acetate with Sparkle Medium and cutting them out. The shell in the centre is a real one painted with Starlight - I love that we can do this with them.

Imagination Crafts Samples

Hello again, Some more piccies of TV samples.

This was the only one I managed to demonstrate live on air and below,  a detail of the bunting with gorgeous little images from the rice paper.

Wednesday, 1 June 2016

These are just a few of the samples I made for the Beach/Seaside show we have just shown, Bank Holiday Monday 30th May.

This first one was using the beautiful rice papers to create a background with collaged scraps and one of the topper designs as a focal point.

I also used the Silver Gold Starlight paint to colour the bottom section of the background and disguise the join in the papers.
Great as a man's card don't you think?

New Venture with Imagination Crafts

Hi there,
I am so happy! I have done my first TV show on Hochanda, for Imagination Crafts and I LOVED it. A Massive "Thank You" to Sue & Harvey who have put their trust in me without really knowing very much about me and thankfully, I think they are happy with their new team member.
I can't tell you how exciting it all was and the team there were brilliant, really putting me at my ease and being very supportive. I was accompanied by the lovely Leonie Pujol and we had a right giggle together, it was lovely. I will be posting my samples from the shows together with sneak peeks for up-coming shows too, so keep watching.......

The large "R" is a papier mache letter, the rest are mdf. Begin by drawing around each letter and both front & back onto the papers. These designs are by House of Zandra. Continue by painting the letters with acrylic paint. Then apply Aged Ivory Frantage embossing powder around the outside edges and heat to melt.
Cut out the papers making them slightly smaller than the outlines of the letters, ink the edges and attach to each letter, front & back.
Coat the paper flowers and butterflies with paper hardener to strengthen and increase flexibility and body, it allows them to be shaped much better and they will hold their shape. Cut them out, shape them and add decorative finishes to the centres of the flowers. I used a mixture of beads, mica flakes and pearl dots and a bit of Stickles on the butterflies.
Assemble the decoration using chain, charms and jump rings where desired. Attach all the elements to the letters.
Finally glue all the letters together to create the word. A hot glue gun is best for this job.
